Hey gang, thanks for a great year, I love you all, new friends and old!
I'm on Instagram as @jhamie34 , follow me there as the dev art app makes it difficult for me to keep up with your art, guarantee I'll follow you back guys...thanksssss!
Im back, youre all gonna pay.
Why do people want to write and draw other people's creations...it truly baffles me.  I get zero pleasure out of drawing characters that someone else has done, and I can't even fake it.  It has to come from me or I just can't do it.

I just had dinner with an Eisner Award winner.
Just wanted to see how cool that looked typed out :D
Mark and his lovely wife Carol took me to dinner this evening,  where they told me hilarious stories of years of collecting rare books, magazines, etc, gave me very good advice regarding my comedy and it's value in the comic book market, and really it was a once in a lifetime kind of experience, and yet I feel I've made two new friends for life :)

I'm working on another page of Biff, and I took a quick break, walked to my back porch, and found 4 very young racoons eating cat food.  Animals rule!

Ugh, after a 2 week fever and 6 days of insomnia earlier this month, I'm so spent.  I'm sure I'll be drawing again but I really lack what it takes at the moment.
Just read Dororo by Tezuka, 800 pages in 1 day.  Fantastic, except for the final chapter, which was a rushed wrap-up of all the epic storytelling in 30 pages, oof!
Also reading Alec: The Years have Pants, which is one of the best comics of all time, there is nothing like it.
Also TRYING to read Finder, by Carla Speed McNiel, but i'm not "hooked" yet.
I haven't been reading too many comics over the last 7 years or so, anyone have any recommendations from the history of comicbookosity?  Keep in mind I'd prefer original work, and not, let's say, Peter David's run on the Incredible Hulk.  I prefer original books done by the original writers and artists, but show me whatcha got, boys n berries!:salute:

I started using actual canvases as of yesterday, my first real attempts at painting paintings, and not painting bristol board :)  I'm starting with those cheapo canvases (canvi? ) those hard 'fredrix' ones, so I can cheaply make mistakes;)

Spawn no. 1 for 3 bucks...they had about 3 or 4 copies for that price, who'd have thought we'd see the day that Spawn was cheap and available.  I never really put my finger on what made the cover to issue 1 so cool, and then realized how much Ken Steacy added to it.
Wetworks no. 1 for 2 bucks.  Love Whilce, especially his older work, and in MY opinion, Image wouldn't have looked so purrdy without the inks of Scott Williams in those pre-Image days...I can't say enough about his influence on inking!
From Hell no. 1 for 5 bucks.  I recently got Eddie Campbell's Complete Alec: The Years Have Pants, and I'm more into his artwork than ever before.  I can remember seeing his work back around 1992, 93, somewhere in there, and thinking it was just a mess, now I see Campbell can do things that so many other's woulcn't even CONSIDER.  Also the paper quality in the individual 11 volumes of From Hell are head and shoulders above the quality of the 500+ page collected edition, which I gor for free back in the day from Golden Eagle Comics because it fell apart (!) when they got it in (Hi Jon Duffy, wherever the hell you are!)

Issue 2 is picking up steam, I figured out what belonged between certain scenes.  Drew 4 pages in 4 days thus far, suddenly the conclusion doesn't seem far.  YUP, I rhymed far with far, whattayou gonna do about it? I learned my poetry from Ronnie the Limo Driver!

This year, your resolution should be to revolt and kill a bunch of people who don't like or believe in the things that YOU believe.  By the way, my favorite food is Italian, and since that's most people's favorite, I think that means you won't kill me!
Have a great revolution boys and girls!!

I did a buncha inkwork on Cactus World today, which is when I ponder my jokes on the page as well...rewrote some goofy jokes and tried to make more surprising punchlines while completing some pages...1 page is 100% done, 3 others are about 75% done, and about 8 other pages are less than 50% done...which leaves about 10 pages to take from the thumbnails all the way to inked and lettered!:faint: I'm aiming at January being 100% done with the issue!  All while doing these fun colorful landscapes I've been having a lot of fun with! They are all approximately 10 inches wide and 3 or 4 inches tall, except for "Lotsa Rocks" which is something like 6x5.  If anyone wants any of these pieces or wants a brand new landscape, I'm charging 8 bucks a pop, paypal preferred.

I am not a liberal.  I am not a conservative.  Somewhere between the left and the right lies the truth.  Kudos to all who voiced their opinions on the Frank Miller journal:salute: When differing opinions get in the mind, the thoughts boil over!

Frank Miller is expressing his opinions and beliefs...isn't that kind of the whole POINT of being an artist?  No? Okay, my bad, go back to your soap opera superheroes.

You have the potential to do great things in the comic book field, but you won't abandon superheroes.  You aren't going to out-do Marvel.  You're not going to out-superhero D.C. Comics.   So why not let them have their masked dinosaurs and why not do something that no one has ever done before.  It's NOT impossible.  At ALL.
By the way, I am currently drawing a 6-page superhero comic that will be in Cactus World issue 2.  Guess what?  I'm still better than you.

...My first inspiration to do comics was probably all the Image guys before there WAS an Image Comics.  I remember being 100% devoted to Jim Lee, and getting into a quarrel or two over who the greatest artist in comics was, Jim Lee or Todd McFarlane, on occasion.  By the way, I was also a Rob Liefeld nut, and I have absolutely no shame in admitting that.  Liefeld's X-Force work had a metric ton of energy to it...stupid, anatomically incorrect energy, constant swiping, etc. Yet there was a rare energy to the whole thing.
Then came Dave Sim.  His views on just about everything there is to have a view on contradict the views of just about everyone else in the comic book industry, and yet...He. Did. It.  He set a monumental goal and he accomplished it without anything but his own hard work, drive, and the support of his fan base.
He did it.
So will I.

According to Newsarama, (and I say "according to Newsarama due to the insanely ridiculous number of typos found in every article I've ever read that CAME from there, so who knows WHAT can be trusted there:p ) Ann Nocenti is taking over writing chores on Green Arrow with issue 7...I'm not a Green Arrow guy, but I AM an Ann Nocenti guy...Ann's Daredevil run was feminist-preachy and she injected the series with her world views, which uh...is sort of what a good writer DOES.  Whether you believe in the person's point of view or not, at least she HAS one...kind of like Alan Moore, arguably the best writer in comic book history.  I don't think there is one single person on Earth who shares his beliefs, yet his work is all the more richer for his injecting his comic books with them.
I haven't read an Ann Nocenti comic SINCE her Daredevil run, but hopefully her new work has as much "Ann" in it as it did back then
Then again, Kevin Smith puts 100% of Kevin Smith in his comics...which is why they suck!
